God is Doing A New Thing

Today’s Word: At a garage sale last week I found some old DC Talk CDs. It brought me back to the days of my youth where DC Talk, Petra, Carmen, and the Newsboys were played from my tape deck continuously. It reminded me of $5 concerts and tie-dye shirts. As I listened to these “oldies” I came across an old favorite. “God is doing a Nu-Thing.” And as I sang along, still remembering the words, the message of the song was still as fresh as it was way back then.

Scripture tells us, “He who was seated on the throne said, ‘I am making all things new!'” (Rev. 21:5) God is doing a new thing! And He is making everything new. We are not finished products yet. We have not been made new; we are being made new. That’s present tense. That means God is still working on us and through us. There will be a day where we will stand “perfect” before the Lord, and we share in the hope of that glorious day. I praise the Lord today for He has chosen us to be children of God. And we have an assurance, “…that he who began a good work in (us) will be faithful to complete it. (Phi. 1:6) The Word for Today is that we can be encouraged that God is still working on us. It is a process that will be completed when He returns in the clouds.

Therefore, let us focus on striving for Christ and not on dwelling on our imperfections. His grace is enough for those who are truly seeking to do His will. For our love for God can be seen in our desire to obey Him. (John 14:21) So take joy as we stumble here or there, or fall flat on our face. For while the spirit is willing our bodies will continue to fail us; yet, God sustains us. Be sustained today knowing that God has forgiven us of our sins. And remember this: to struggle with sin is a great blessing, for without Christ in us, there would be no struggle. He is making each of us new…
