Dressing the Wounds

Here is the Word I received from the Lord this morning. As pastors and teachers living in a broken and postmodern world, we can so easily fall to the lie that we can have peace with the world as things (that were once considered sin) are now acceptable in our culture. However, God has warned us many times in scripture that even his priests and prophets will face his wrath if they “dress the wounds of the people as though it were not serious.”

Here is what the priests of God were doing before Jerusalem fell. The prophet Jeremiah writes, 13 “For from the least of them even to the greatest of them, Everyone is greedy for gain, And from the prophet even to the priest Everyone deals falsely. 14 “They have healed the brokenness of My people superficially, Saying, ‘Peace, peace,’ But there is no peace. 15 “Were they ashamed because of the abomination they have done? They were not even ashamed at all; They did not even know how to blush. Therefore they shall fall among those who fall; At the time that I punish them, They shall be cast down,” says the LORD. Jeremiah 6:13-15

Lord, continue to give us the strength and courage to expose evil and stand against it. May we never find ourselves trying to justify sin within the sheep you have placed in our care. May we never cry peace and safety for those who are rebelling against your nature of holiness, for you alone determine what stands outside of righteousness, for you are Holy.
